FOR LAWYERS
Optimizing Your Profile
Your profile is your first impression
Your Uncoupled profile is often the first thing a potential client sees. It needs to communicate competence, empathy, and fit within seconds. A complete, authentic profile helps the right clients find you.
Write a compelling bio
Your bio should speak directly to the client, not read like a résumé. Instead of listing credentials, explain what it is like to work with you. Address common concerns (cost, complexity, time) and explain how you help. Use warm, accessible language. Avoid legal jargon unless you immediately explain it. A good bio is 150 to 300 words.
Choose the approach tags that reflect your practice
Your approach to family law is one of the most visible elements on your profile card. Tags like "Collaborative Law," "Mediation Focused," or "Settlement Oriented" tell clients immediately how you work. Choose approaches that genuinely reflect your practice. Clients who value your approach are more likely to be a good fit and a long-term client.
Set transparent rates
Uncoupled shows your rate range on your profile card. Setting a range (e.g., $250 to $400/hr) rather than a single number gives you flexibility and helps clients understand that costs depend on complexity. Being transparent about rates builds trust before the first consultation.
Add a professional photo
A professional photo helps clients feel comfortable reaching out to you. Use a professional headshot with good lighting, a neutral background, and appropriate attire. A warm, approachable expression helps clients feel at ease.
List your expertise accurately
Select all areas of family law you genuinely practise in. Clients filter by expertise, so listing areas you do not handle will lead to poor fit consultations. Focus on your strengths. If you specialize in high conflict cases or collaborative divorce, make that clear.
Consider offering a free initial consultation
A free initial consultation is your opportunity to demonstrate your expertise and build rapport. Many clients are nervous about the cost of legal services, and a free first meeting removes that barrier.
